Our take on Japanese Rail Sim: Journey to Kyoto
Rather than building around fictional worlds, missions, or character progression, this simulation replaces those conventions with live-action footage of a real railway route. Its structure centers on repeating line runs, cab controls, seasonal scenery, and the differences between uphill and downhill travel.
What is Japanese Rail Sim: Journey to Kyoto?
Japanese Rail Sim: Journey to Kyoto recreates railway driving on Kyoto's Eizan Railway through live-action Full HD video and a reproduced driver's cab.
Operation centers on the master controller and brakes, with routes covering both the Eizan Line and Kurama Line in uphill and downhill directions. The game includes two trains: the Kirara panorama train and the Hiei sightseeing train. Seasonal footage presents Kyoto scenery in early summer and autumn, including the Maple Tunnel. A guidebook covers attractions along the line, while a document collection provides information about earlier trains. Keyboard, mouse, and controller inputs are supported, along with three screen sizes and trading cards.
