Good fit- Platformer fans who want a downward route rather than a climb toward a finish
- Players who prefer a story-focused run in a lower-difficulty mode

Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a forgiving hard mode may find Watermelon mode's reset after one mistake too punishing.
- Players who prefer steady forward progress may dislike springboards that can send Laika back toward the top.
- Players looking for a shooter, combat-focused game, or multiplayer play may find the described platforming scope too narrow.
Our take on Into the Sinkhole
Many platformers frame progress as a climb or forward push; this one makes descent the central route. Springboards also invert their usual role, since they can interrupt downward progress by launching Laika back toward the top.
What is Into the Sinkhole?
Into the Sinkhole is a descending 3D platformer in which the robot Laika explores a deep sinkhole on behalf of a research team.
The route leads downward through platforms that can interrupt progress: some move, disappear and return, or launch the character upward. A springboard can send Laika back toward the top, though it may also be useful in some situations. Jumps and dashes are used to get past obstacles along the descent. The game offers two difficulty modes: Strawberry mode is intended for a less demanding run with attention to the story, while Watermelon mode can send a character back to the beginning after one mistake. The descent also involves uncovering hidden secrets and artifacts.
How Into the Sinkhole plays
- 01Two difficulty modes
- Strawberry mode suits a story-focused run, while Watermelon mode can reset progress to the start after a single error.
- 02Varied platform behavior
- The descent includes surfaces that shift position, vanish and return, or propel Laika upward.
- 03Jump and dash movement
- These moves are used to navigate around obstacles on the route down.
- 04Robot-led exploration
- Laika is sent into the sinkhole by a research team because the depth makes human exploration too dangerous.
