Our take on Hope of Bion
The defining constraint is lethal enemy contact: one bite can kill Bion, while firearm ammunition is not endless. That threat shapes the combat alongside the choice between a baseball bat and ranged weapons during the search through the flooded city.
What is Hope of Bion?
After returning from a work trip, Bion finds his family missing and the city overrun by creatures that were once human.
The search spans 3 story campaigns lasting 4-5 hours in total. Players travel through varied locations, inspect environmental objects, communicate with survivors and complete mini-games alongside puzzles, platforming and horror sequences. Combat uses both close-range weapons and firearms, with ammunition limited and enemies able to kill Bion with a single bite. The game combines story-focused adventure with atmospheric exploration and action, and includes different objectives across its levels. It was developed by one person.

Hope of Bion compared to similar games
Hope of Bion combines a story-led search with environmental examination, survivor conversations, puzzles, platforming and limited-resource combat. Jusant centers on climbing and route selection during a meditative ascent, while Sundered: Eldritch Edition is described as a chaotic metroidvania rather than a short, three-campaign search narrative.
