Our take on Home and Dungeon
Rather than treating combat and story advancement as the whole RPG structure, the game adds town construction and everyday living as central activities. Its slower-life systems and optional crafting, cooking, and purchasing choices let players shape the balance between adventure and settlement management.
What is Home and Dungeon?
Home and Dungeon is a fantasy RPG about Ashirock, a half-elf who finds Ryuna, a girl of mixed elf and orc heritage who has been rejected by both races.
Together, they set out to establish a town where people are not excluded because of their race. The game combines story progression and hack-and-slash combat with exploration, item collection, town construction, and everyday activities. Players can focus on the parts they prefer, including a slower lifestyle, and can choose whether to cook or eat at a restaurant, or craft equipment or purchase it. All characters are 18 or older.
How Home and Dungeon plays
- 01Town construction
- Ashirock and Ryuna work toward founding a settlement where residents are not expelled because of their race.
- 02Flexible activities
- Players can pursue exploration, item gathering, combat, building, or everyday living in different combinations.
- 03Optional crafting
- Equipment can be made or bought, while meals can be prepared or obtained at a restaurant.
- 04Casual or deep play
- The game lets players decide how many of its available systems and activities to engage with.
Home and Dungeon compared to similar games
Home and Dungeon combines fantasy RPG combat and story progression with item collection, town construction, and slower daily activities. Back to the Dawn focuses on surviving and escaping a maximum-security prison, while Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition centers on exploring a strange and dangerous city. Tales of Symphonia presents a large-scale conflict involving two worlds rather than a town-building and lifestyle structure.
