Our take on Hocus Pocus
Players looking for a deep progression system may bounce off when the adventure relies on a standard spell and temporary potion effects rather than sustained character development. Those expecting full controller support may also hit a wall at the partial Xbox 360 controller implementation.
What is Hocus Pocus?
Hocus Pocus is an action platform game following a young sorcerer through 36 levels across 16 realms.
Each level combines platforming with puzzles built into its layout, while enemies include dragons, imps, ghosts, and more than 30 other creatures. Four large bosses appear during the journey. Hocus begins with a standard magic spell and can collect temporary potions that enable rapid firing, higher jumps, teleportation, and an energy blast. The game changes its graphics, backgrounds, and enemies after every two levels. It includes game saves, selectable skill levels, four cheat passwords, 360-degree scrolling, parallax backgrounds, and partial Xbox 360 controller support.

Hocus Pocus compared to similar games
Hocus Pocus combines side-scrolling platforming, embedded puzzles, temporary magic abilities, and a 36-level campaign. SUPER CHICKEN JUMPER focuses on runner-style movement with shooting, while Sundered: Eldritch Edition uses a metroidvania structure with chaotic combat. Hocus Pocus presents a fixed level sequence rather than those games' different action structures.
