Our take on Hellbound
The focus on immediate combat keeps the structure direct, but gives up narrative depth and broader interaction. Story is limited, while movement, weapons, secrets and enemy encounters carry most of the experience.
What is Hellbound?
Hellbound is a first-person shooter set in Hell, built around rapid movement, demon combat, gore, firearms and metal music.
Its structure emphasizes continuous action rather than story, with players controlling Hellgore, a warrior seeking vengeance for his massacred people. Combat includes strafing jumps and a collection of weapons made from materials such as metal, flesh and bones. Exploration is limited to opening doors, pressing buttons, locating secret areas and finding hidden items. The game draws on 1990s shooters including DOOM, Quake and Duke Nukem 3D, while using modern visuals and audio. Its soundtrack includes work by David Levill, Federico Ágreda, known as Zardonic, and Christian Fernando Perucchi.
