- Players looking for weapon-based helicopter action will find no rockets or combat equipment.
Our take on HELI
The bounce point comes when sightseeing replaces interaction: the tours are recorded and non-interactive, so players expecting constant control will have little to do until switching to the simulator. Simulation enthusiasts may also stop at the simplified flight model.
What is HELI?
HELI is a room-scale VR experience centered on helicopter aviation and sightseeing in New York City.
It includes several recorded air tours with panoramic views and a simplified simulator where players pilot the helicopter themselves. The simulator provides four heliports for landing. Players can physically move around the helicopter during the VR experience. A Garou demo places the player on the Chrysler Building’s gargoyle and is available for arcades through SpringboardVR. The tours are non-interactive, while the simulator provides the main hands-on activity. HELI presents helicopter flights as an exploration and tourism experience rather than as a combat-focused game.
