Our take on HeistGeist
Combat and character development both revolve around a card deck: players build combinations in battles and shape their approach by choosing and modifying cards.
What is HeistGeist?
HeistGeist is a single-player, story-driven cyberpunk RPG set in an imagined version of Central Europe in the 2040s.
Players follow Alexandra, a thief on the run after a heist goes wrong, as she assembles allies and targets corporate operations. When stealth is not an option, combat uses tactical card battles. Playing cards in sequence creates combos with stronger effects. Cards gather modification points as they are played; after leveling up, each can be changed into one of two versions.
Character development uses a deck tailored to a chosen strategy and cyberware that changes attributes, rather than traditional skill trees. Hacking is also card-based: players run programs and install viruses while breaking barriers and avoiding ICE on the way to server data. The game is non-roguelike and features voiced characters.
