Hatchwell is a top-down action RPG set during one in-game day in a town preparing for its festival.
As residents become uneasy about disruptive events, the mayor asks the player to investigate different parts of town and uncover their cause. Exploration includes solving puzzles, fighting monsters, finding items, and opening new routes. The game includes seven areas of town, a setting that changes as the day progresses, character customization, and a choice of 12 pet companions. Hidden paths lead to treasure chests containing accessories with unique abilities. Optional items can also be found outside the main storyline.
