Our take on Harvested
Instead of separating strategic planning from direct combat, the game keeps city management and top-down shooting available together. Its maps also replace procedural generation with hand-crafted layouts built around particular strategies and hidden discoveries.
What is Harvested?
Harvested combines real-time strategy with a top-down shooter.
Build a city, manage resources, and construct facilities such as lumber mills, mining camps, and fishing wharfs. Workers can gather materials while the base expands through roads, planted trees, rivers, and fish. Defend the settlement directly with weapons including a knife, pistol, shotgun, machine gun, and sniper rifle, while turrets, barricades, and soldier units support the defense. The campaign contains 18 missions with objectives focused on economy, offense, or survival. Hand-crafted maps are built around different strategies and include hidden secrets. Freeplay maps offer survival sessions on Ceres. Two enemy factions use distinct AI types and attack with swords, guns, explosives, and other weapons.
How Harvested plays
- 01Dual gameplay roles
- Control the wider economy and defenses while also fighting on the map as an individual soldier.
- 02Resource infrastructure
- Build facilities for timber, ore, and fish collection, then train workers to gather those resources.
- 0318-mission campaign
- The campaign includes missions centered on economic development, offensive action, and survival.
- 04Hand-crafted maps
- Maps are made for particular strategies and contain concealed secrets.
- 05Fortress defenses
- Turrets, barricades, and hired soldier units can supplement direct combat.
- 06Freeplay survival
- Additional maps let players test how long they can survive on Ceres.
Harvested compared to similar games
Harvested combines base construction, resource management, and direct top-down shooting, while Anomaly: Warzone Earth uses a reversed tower-defense structure focused on stopping an alien assault. Dungeon Defenders: Awakened centers on cooperative action RPG and tower-defense play with loot, leveling, pets, and character customization, rather than Harvested’s city-building and 18-mission campaign.
