Our take on Hardwork Simulator
Its defining mechanic is the conflict between typing toward the end of a document and dropping letters onto mouse pointers before too much text is lost.
What is Hardwork Simulator?
Hardwork Simulator turns a text editor into a workplace game.
The goal is to progress toward the end of a document while making the activity appear like ordinary computer work. Angry stick figures attempt to expose the player, while mouse pointers threaten the text. Letters can be dropped onto the pointers to keep them away, and stick figures can be killed during play. Losing too many letters triggers a Blue Screen of Death, adding a constraint to the typing-based objective. The game was created for Ludum Dare Compo 49, whose theme was “Unstable,” and includes secret features. Its premise centers on disguising play as work on a workplace or university computer.
