Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking combat, exploration, or a story-driven adventure will find the gameplay centered on grid-based number puzzles.
- Those wanting broad mechanical variety may find repeated number manipulation and route selection narrow across sessions.
- Players who dislike arithmetic involving factorials, exponents, or modulos may struggle with later worlds.
Our take on half-a-cado
The vegetable presentation gives the game a playful surface, but the actual offering is a focused arithmetic exercise. Its five worlds add operations rather than distinct gameplay systems, so the apparent variety mainly reflects increasing mathematical complexity.
What is half-a-cado?
Control a numbered cube across grid-based stages where tiles alter its value through mathematical operations.
Each move affects the number, so solving a level requires selecting a route that reaches the target with as few moves as possible. The game contains five vegetable-themed worlds, with each world introducing another type of calculation. Operations include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, exponents, squares, factorials, and modulos. Challenges become more complex as new operations are introduced. The core loop combines path planning with arithmetic, requiring calculations before committing to movement. The game is the first of the studio’s five completed games to be released on Steam, and the two-person studio says it makes one game each month.
How half-a-cado plays
