Our take on Haiku, the Robot
Its defining structure is a connected Metroidvania world where newly acquired abilities reveal routes that were previously inaccessible.
What is Haiku, the Robot?
Haiku, the Robot is a side-scrolling adventure set in Arcadia, a connected mechanical world occupied by hostile machines and other robots.
Exploration involves mapping routes, finding hidden areas, and collecting items, abilities, and upgrades that open access to new locations. Combat centers on dodging, dashing, and striking enemies in close quarters, with boss encounters testing movement and reflexes. Platforming includes jumps, ziplines, and blinks across environmental obstacles. Characters encountered throughout the world may be allies or enemies, while a chip system allows playstyle changes. The game uses hand-animated, GameBoy-inspired pixel art with modern controls. Corrupt Mode adds a one-health-point challenge, temporary health upgrades, an alternate story, new train stations, and achievements.
