Our take on GyroGunner
Its defining constraint is resource-based helicopter combat: ammunition, flares, and fuel are limited, while boosters trade faster movement for fuel consumption.
What is GyroGunner?
GyroGunner is a pixel-art arcade shooter viewed from above, with twin-stick controls and scrolling in all directions.
The player flies an attack helicopter armed with a Vulcan gun and missiles that track targets, taking enemy installations through seven stages. Arcade mode requires clearing locations in sequence; Free mode allows replaying completed areas. Cannon rounds, guided missiles, and flares are finite. Flares disrupt missiles that home in, while boosters raise travel speed by using fuel. Reaching 100% damage or depleting fuel ends the run in a crash. No upgrade or repair pickups appear. A controller is recommended: the left stick handles movement and the right stick turns the helicopter.
How GyroGunner plays
- 01Two Play Modes
- Arcade mode orders the seven stages, while free mode allows access to areas already cleared.
- 02Limited Combat Supplies
- Cannon ammunition, guided missiles, and defensive flares each have restricted quantities.
- 03Fuel-Based Boosting
- Boosters raise helicopter speed but consume fuel, and an empty fuel supply causes a crash.
- 04Damage Crash Limit
- The helicopter crashes when accumulated damage reaches 100% or more.
