We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Turn-based tactics fans who want short runs of about 30 minutes
- Players who enjoy roguelike combat with randomized levels and upgrades
- Strategy players interested in positional shooting and environmental hazards
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a long campaign may bounce off the approximately 30-minute run structure
- Players who prefer direct attacks may hit a wall when learning to manage revolver rotation before firing
- Players looking for large-scale warfare may find the small-scale shootouts too limited
Our take on GUNCHO
The bounce point is the revolver system: every move, shot, or unloaded bullet changes cylinder alignment. Players expecting conventional turn-based attacks may hit a wall when they must plan movement around the next available firing position.
What is GUNCHO?
Guncho is a turn-based tactics game built around rotating a revolver cylinder to line up bullets with enemies on a hex grid.
Movement, shooting, and unloading ammunition alter the cylinder, making positioning part of each attack. Randomly generated levels feature different enemy types and environmental hazards, including explosive barrels, fire, and cacti that can damage or reposition foes. After each level, runs offer bullet upgrades and skills for further tactical options. Each run takes about 30 minutes and ends with a boss encounter. The game includes the Burning Desert biome, two difficulty settings, a daily challenge, unlocks, achievements, and Steam Cloud saves. Its setting combines roguelike shootouts with a Wild West theme.

GUNCHO compared to similar games
Shogun Showdown also uses turn-based combat, upgrades, skills, and roguelike progression, but Guncho centers attacks on revolver-cylinder alignment and hex-grid positioning, while Shogun Showdown focuses on attack tiles, combos, and deck building. Men of War: Assault Squad covers large-scale World War II battles with direct control over units, whereas Guncho presents small randomized shootouts with short runs. Xenonauts focuses on commanding persistent squads during a Cold War-era alien defense campaign, unlike Guncho's Wild West encounters.
