Our take on Growing Up
The coming-of-age framing understates the scope: the game continues through parenthood and into the next child's life. Its many systems also make it a life-management game, not only a branching personal story.
What is Growing Up?
Growing Up follows a character from toddlerhood through adulthood, parenthood, and the life of a child in the next generation.
Players choose activities, study, build skills, manage daily schedules, explore more than 30 city locations, and develop friendships or romantic relationships. Choices affect the narrative, future career, partner, available locations, characters, and some features of a future offspring. The game includes exams, extracurricular activities, a mind-focused mini-game, character customization, room changes, and more than 200 skills leading toward 42 careers. Its branching story includes multiple endings and 19 characters with stories that develop alongside the player's life.
