Our take on Grid Slayer
The layered interaction system trades immediate simplicity for tactical possibility. Players must track terrain effects, movement-generated Momentum and card modifications together, so encounters demand planning rather than quick, isolated actions.
What is Grid Slayer?
Grid Slayer is a tactical, grid-based deck-building RPG centered on elemental interactions and positional combat.
Players use wizardry to alter the battlefield and confront large groups of powerful enemies. Lightning can stun and spread through water, water extinguishes fire, fire travels through oil, and oil creates slippery ground. Units gain Momentum whenever they move, adding another factor to positioning and attack planning. During a campaign, every card can receive Mods, such as adding Electrified to Rain or increasing Fireball’s damage and area of effect. Between campaigns, Insights unlock additional cards, enemies, weather effects and difficulty modifiers for later runs.
How Grid Slayer plays
- 01Elemental interactions
- Water, fire, oil and lightning affect one another and change how encounters unfold.
- 02Card modifications
- Spells can receive Mods during a campaign, including added damage, area effects or elemental behavior.
- 03Movement momentum
- Each unit builds Momentum whenever it moves, creating another resource for tactical combinations.
- 04Campaign unlocks
- Insights between campaigns add cards, enemies, weather effects and difficulty modifiers.
Grid Slayer compared to similar games
Shogun Showdown also combines turn-based combat with deck building, but focuses on positioning, attack timing, upgraded attack tiles and skill selection before confronting the Shogun. Grid Slayer instead centers its battles on elemental reactions, battlefield manipulation, unit Momentum and card Mods, with additional campaign unlocks for enemies, weather effects and difficulty modifiers.
