Our take on Grabbus
Rather than using a fixed level sequence, the game combines an endlessly generated world map with randomized towers, item fusion, and a potency system that changes future encounters and rewards.
What is Grabbus?
Grabbus follows Morris, a rat bonded to a parasite, through Skixx, a world with unusual physics.
A turn-based map is generated for each save and supports exploration in every direction, building structures, and visiting locations. Tile-based towers create varied, traversable layouts with enemies and treasure. Morris moves through these areas while Grabbus pulls objects and enemies, triggers situational actions, converts consumables or weapon power into patterned energy shots, and creates a shield that can reflect projectiles.
An Evolution Grid contains 18 upgrade nodes and tiles, with in-game currency used to develop it. Loot can be combined in pairs when compatible. Tower progress raises world potency, changing future difficulty and reward levels; defeat causes Morris to drop held items and lowers potency.
How Grabbus plays
- 01Generated World Map
- Each save receives a turn-based map with unrestricted directional exploration, locations, and buildable structures.
- 02Randomized Tower Layouts
- Tile-based generation produces varied traversable terrain while distributing opponents and treasure through the area.
- 03Grabbus Combat Tools
- The parasite can pull targets, trigger object-specific actions, shape energy ammunition, and reflect incoming projectiles with a shield.
- 04Evolution Grid
- An upgrade matrix contains 18 node and tile types, and can be regenerated by sacrificing part of the node-point total.
- 05Item Fusion
- Two compatible pieces of loot can be combined into a different result while reducing inventory use.
- 06World Potency
- Cleared floors raise a difficulty-and-reward value, while Morris's defeat drops held items and reduces that value.
