Our take on goto
Rather than using combat, narrative, or character progression, this casual maze game makes move efficiency the central challenge. Its three-cube ratings and level records replace the usual win-or-lose structure with repeated attempts to improve a route.
What is goto?
goto is a minimalist maze game with 50 levels.
Each level requires movement in four directions while obstacles are avoided and paths are cleared. Levels have move records, such as completing level 0 in 7 moves. Failing to match a record awards one or two cubes out of three, while beating it grants a special achievement. Complexity increases after each completed level. The game has no plot, and touching obstacles does not kill the player. It includes pixel-art visuals, a chiptune soundtrack, 100 Steam achievements, and Xbox controller support. Keyboard controls use arrow keys, WASD, Enter, Esc, and R for movement, selection, returning to the menu, and restarting a level.
How goto plays
- 01Move records
- Each stage sets a target number of moves, including a 7-move record for level 0.
- 02Three-cube ratings
- Missing a level record awards one or two cubes, while beating it awards a special achievement.
- 03Increasing complexity
- The levels become more complex each time a stage is completed.
- 04Achievement collection
- The game includes 100 Steam achievements to collect.
- 05Controller support
- Movement uses the Xbox controller's left stick or D-pad, with buttons assigned to selection, returning, and restarting.
