Our take on GONE Fishing
The defining structure is a fishing loop tied to a nightly offering: catches must be delivered to the lake monster before darkness, or it emerges to hunt the group.
What is GONE Fishing?
GONE Fishing is a cooperative survival horror game for 1–8 players.
During the day, players collect live bait from the surrounding area and fish in a lake, managing hook timing, line tension, and each catch’s behavior. Fish must be offered at an altar before darkness arrives, or the lake monster emerges and hunts the group. A floating trader appears at midday, exchanging fish for upgrades and totems.
Failed offerings make the monster more aggressive, while the cabin and running do not provide safety. Catches are recorded for a global leaderboard, allowing players to compare the largest fish landed. The fishing process includes casting, setting the hook, reeling, and balancing tension to keep the line from snapping or the fish from escaping.
How GONE Fishing plays
- 01Cooperative Fishing
- Groups of up to eight players gather bait, catch fish, and coordinate offerings to the lake monster.
- 02Bait Gathering
- Players collect frogs, worms, spiders, bats, and other live bait, each with different reactions.
- 03Line Tension
- Reeling requires balancing pressure because excessive tension can break the line while insufficient tension lets fish escape.
- 04Balloon Trader
- A midday merchant trades fish for upgrades and totems.
- 05Global Leaderboard
- Recorded catches let players compete across the world for the largest fish.
