Play it if you…

- Open-world players who prefer quarter-view exploration
- Players who want to build a character through health, stamina, and special-move choices
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking turn-based battles will hit a wall when combat begins in real time.
- Players wanting a purely linear adventure may bounce off the open-world structure and weapon-dependent encounters.
- Players uninterested in allocating progression points may not engage with the tattoo system.
Our take on GOKEN
Players looking for turn-based combat will bounce off at the first real-time encounter. The same applies to anyone who prefers fixed character growth: leveling opens tattoo choices for health, stamina, and special moves rather than leaving progression unchanged.
What is GOKEN?
GOKEN is an action RPG set near Cardina, a village located 5,000 years after a swordsman and the god Ozone fought over five divine blades.
Players search for the missing swords while exploring an open world with continuous transitions between locations, events, and combat. Battles take place in real time, with two attack inputs that can be assigned different weapons to form custom combos. Certain enemies, bosses, and environmental challenges call for particular weapon types. Leveling grants tattoo points, which can raise maximum health and stamina or provide new special moves. The game uses a quarter-view perspective and presents a story about the swordsman known as the Wielder of the Five Swords.
How GOKEN plays
- 01Weapon-based combat
- Two attack inputs can carry different weapons, allowing players to assemble personalized combo patterns.
- 02Tactical weapon choices
- Some foes, bosses, and environmental obstacles require particular weapon types during encounters.
- 03Tattoo progression
- Leveling grants points for increasing health or stamina and acquiring special moves.
- 04Continuous world flow
- Exploration, story events, and fights connect without separate transition sequences.
GOKEN compared to similar games
GOKEN combines open-world exploration with real-time weapon assignment, combo building, and tattoo-based character growth. Ghost of a Tale is also an action RPG, but its description centers on stealth, disguises, conversations, and exploration in an animal-populated medieval setting. GOKEN instead focuses on sword recovery and weapon-specific combat encounters.
