Our take on AOI
The focus on jumping and direct combat leaves less room for elaborate puzzle-solving and continuous story presentation. Story material is distributed through conversations and scattered information, so players who skip exploration or dialogue will receive less narrative context.
What is AOI?
AOI is a single-player 2D platform adventure about a girl who wakes without her memories.
Exploration takes place across connected areas, with some freedom over the order in which regions are tackled. Progress combines jumping, direct combat, and limited puzzle-solving. Enemies can provide gold coins, which can be spent in a shop on weapons, energy stones, and other upgrades before boss encounters. Three weapons can be carried at once, with instant switching between distinct attack styles.
The game includes challenging stages and boss battles. Story delivery is optional in practice: NPC conversations and scattered information reveal the world’s events, while players focused on movement and fighting can largely bypass it. Keyboard and controller controls can be remapped, with matching interface prompts.
