Our take on GlitchPets
Rather than presenting a conventional adventure hero, the game places a debug character inside a damaged pet cartridge. Its structure combines platform climbing, game-world glitches, sentient NPCs, and pet collection instead of following a standard linear quest format.
What is GlitchPets?
GlitchPets is a puzzle-platform-climbing story adventure set inside a malfunctioning retro game.
A pet cartridge is badly damaged after a pet-related incident, and the player controls a debug character while sentient NPCs inhabit the corrupted game. The game supports speed-running and free exploration, with hidden areas, achievements, and pet skins to collect. Movement centers on acceleration, momentum, and triple jumps that can maintain or reduce speed. More than 66 animals and pet skins are available, with skins collected in single-player and unlocked in multiplayer. Players can return to the Portal Room, switch pets, respawn, zoom, and adjust the frame rate. The game remains in development, with additional story scenes and content updates planned.
How GlitchPets plays
- 01Momentum Movement
- Acceleration and three-jump movement allow players to preserve or reduce momentum during traversal.
- 02Pet Collection
- The game includes more than 66 animals and pet skins, with different collection rules for single-player and multiplayer.
- 03Exploration Routes
- Players can pursue speed-running or search through the game's smaller areas for additional content.
- 04Display Options
- The game supports 21:9 displays and lets players change the frame-rate setting through the menus.
- 05Sentient NPCs
- Non-player characters within the glitching game are presented as sentient.
