Our take on Glaze Cup: Journey to the West
The game divides attention between randomized side-scrolling battles and village administration. That broader structure gives combat-focused players a management layer to handle, while the village systems give up some of the uninterrupted action found in a dedicated fighting game.
What is Glaze Cup: Journey to the West?
This 2D action roguelike follows Lao Sha and fellow figures from the Journey to the West setting before their familiar pilgrimage.
Exiled from the heavenly court, the Rolling Curtain General searches the mortal world for fragments of the Glazed Lamp, rebuilding his strength while preparing to answer the heavens. Over four chapters, combat pits players against demons, monsters, humans, and immortals, with encounters involving Guanyin Bodhisattva, Marshal Tianpeng, and the Monkey King. Fights vary through shifting landscapes and enemy groupings, with more than 20 bosses plus hundreds of weapons and mystical treasures. Each chapter offers a central route and two alternate paths. Between battles, players develop a village containing dozens of structures for supplies, protection, and housing.
