Is Glaive worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- VR players who want short, combat-focused sessions rather than a story-led adventure
- HTC Vive owners who prefer standing play with a single controller
- Action players who enjoy advancing through levels that increase in difficulty
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players looking for a wide range of activities may find the focus on blade combat and monster fights narrow.
- Those seeking varied progression may find the structure of fourteen difficulty-based levels limited.
- Players without HTC Vive hardware cannot use the stated setup.
Our take on Glaive
The level-based combat keeps the focus on repeated blade fights, but that narrow structure leaves little room for other kinds of play. Its hardware and standing requirements also make the experience dependent on a specific VR setup.
What is Glaive?
Glaive is a VR action game in which players fight monsters using a blade that can be thrown.
Its levels increase in difficulty, with seven standard levels and seven additional levels in hard mode. A continue option lets players resume the action from where they left off. The game is for HTC Vive and requires one Vive controller. Play is standing-only, with room-scale compatibility. Its focus is fast combat across a set of progressively challenging levels rather than a broader range of activities or a simulation sandbox.
How Glaive plays
- 01Resume Progress
- A continue option returns players to the point where they stopped.
- 02Hard Mode Levels
- Hard mode adds seven levels beyond the seven standard stages.
- 03Single Controller
- Play requires only one HTC Vive controller.
Glaive compared to similar games
Glaive centers on VR blade combat across difficulty-based levels, while Beast Battle Simulator is a physics-based sandbox for battles among animals, dinosaurs, and humans. Apocryph is a first-person fantasy shooter, placing its action in a dark-fantasy world rather than a VR level-based blade-fighting format.
