Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking combat-focused gameplay may bounce off the interactive-novel structure.
- Readers who want a short or linear experience may hit a wall at the 300,000-word story and its relationship choices.
- Players looking for a conventional ghost-hunting role may not fit the premise, since the protagonist is the entity haunting the house.
Our take on Ghost Simulator
The bounce point comes when the game asks players to inhabit the haunting rather than investigate it from outside. Anyone expecting action-led ghost hunting will instead face family choices, supernatural abilities, and a personal mystery about what happened after death.
What is Ghost Simulator?
A 300,000-word interactive horror story follows a ghost troubling a family in a New Hampshire home.
Awakening in a dusty attic, the protagonist investigates the circumstances of death while meeting Samantha, a novelist; Michael, her nurse anesthetist husband; and their teenage children, Ollie and Amber. Decisions can scare the family, fracture their relationships, support their goals, or keep them safe. The ghost may take control of living people, enter their dreams, move objects, and wield supernatural abilities discreetly. The narrative features a former love, a family meal, a Halloween gathering, and Ouija boards. Players select a male, female, or nonbinary identity and determine whether the ghost disrupts or protects the Brooks family.
