Our take on GHOST at DAWN
Rather than treating instructions and menus as dependable guides, the game makes them part of the uncertainty. That choice bends a familiar survival-horror convention: players must question not only what they find in the hotel, but also the guidance meant to orient them.
What is GHOST at DAWN?
Set in 1947, the game follows private detective Ben O’Hara as he searches an abandoned hotel for a missing girl.
Players investigate rooms, look for clues, solve puzzles, and confront supernatural entities while managing fear and limited resources. Keeping the protagonist’s sanity in check allows deeper exploration of The Pines Hotel and the search for what happened to Emi Kosuke. The game draws on survival horror and combines it with a detective noir story. It also features permanent death for the protagonist and tutorials and menus that may mislead players.
