Our take on Gehinnom
Rather than using a fixed horror map and repeatable scare sequence, Gehinnom makes randomness the organizing structure. It applies procedural variation to spaces, objectives, threats, weather, and minor environmental details, while its PvP mode turns one participant into the pursuing demon.
What is Gehinnom?
In this cooperative horror title, groups of 1–4 investigate procedurally arranged locations, collect evidence, and solve varied tasks to identify the objects needed for a ritual that drives away a stalking demon.
Each session changes the architecture, paths, furnishings, evidence positions, objectives, scares, attack behaviors, hazards, minor scenery, and weather. A player-versus-player option places one participant in control of the demon while the remaining players race to perform the ritual. The demon starts as a specter and fills a summoning gauge by using the surroundings to frighten humans. Each human has an individual fear gauge that increases during alarming encounters. After becoming a ghost, a player may still handle certain tasks and pass clue or item information to living allies.
How Gehinnom plays
- 01Randomized environments
- Procedural variation covers layouts, object placement, roads, weather, clues, quests, traps, scares, and demon behavior.
- 02Demon PvP mode
- One participant controls the demon and hunts the other players before they complete the ritual.
- 03Ghost participation
- Players who die can continue selected quests and relay clue or item information to teammates.
- 04Proximity communication
- Lobbies include voice communication based on player distance as well as a text chat box.
- 05Controller support
- The game supports Xbox and PlayStation controllers, along with keyboard key binding.
- 06Multiple lobby types
- Players can create or join public and private lobbies.
- 07Fear meters
- Human players become more vulnerable when their fear reaches 100%, while the demon fills a separate meter to regain a physical form.
