Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking fast real-time combat may hit a wall at the turn-based puzzle structure.
- Those wanting open-ended exploration may find the garden-by-garden format too structured.
- Players uninterested in giant insects, plant assistance, or magical artifacts may not connect with the central gameplay.
Our take on Gardener's Path
The bounce point comes when combat and puzzle solving meet: players expecting direct action may stop at the turn-based structure, while those who do not want to manage insect threats, plant assistance, and artifact abilities may lose interest across the gardens.
What is Gardener's Path?
Gardener’s Path is a top-down, turn-based puzzle game set in a fantasy version of Earth.
After vegetation becomes unable to produce enough oxygen for human life, the goddess Antheia creates 60 underground gardens. Players take the role of a gardener who protects these gardens from giant insects. Each handcrafted garden contains increasingly elaborate puzzles, with different plants and insect types involved. Magical artifacts provide elemental attacks and allow travel back in time. A logbook contains information and illustrations about the creatures encountered. Seasonal pixel art and a new-age soundtrack accompany the garden environments. The game presents its gardener role as one of harmonizing the creatures rather than purging them.
