Battles take place on hex-based maps featuring historical units, locations, countries, and cities. Coordinate squads, study opposing tactics, choose targets, and use abilities such as camouflage, sabotage, overwatch, smoke, artillery barrages, transport, and infantry charges. Units gain experience and can develop additional behaviors. The game includes 100+ distinct units, 14 single-player campaigns, reinforcements, zoom controls, and maps with varied topography. It is intended for offline play and includes a sandbox map titled Moscow '42 - Winter War.
