We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Arcade action fans who want movement-focused combat
- Roguelike players who enjoy choosing weapons and developing build paths
- Players seeking short, time-limited runs with multiple bosses
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who prefer open-ended sessions may find the fixed 20-minute limit restrictive.
- Players seeking slow-paced combat may not enjoy the arcade format and constant time pressure.
- Players looking for a broader campaign may find the focus on defeating the King too narrow.
Our take on From Hell
The 20-minute structure creates a clear objective but limits how long a run can develop. The focus on movement and build paths also leaves less room for slower exploration, keeping each attempt centered on gathering power before confronting the King.
What is From Hell?
From Hell is an arcade action roguelike centered on movement and build paths.
Each run starts with 20 minutes to acquire enough power to defeat the King. Players face angels, heroes, and members of the Adventurer’s Guild while using attacks such as meteors, magic missiles, undead summons, and enchanted blades. The game includes 24 weapons, blessed weapon forms to discover, six temporary power-ups, and six heroic bosses. Human opponents cannot physically injure the player, but they can drain the energy used to maintain the player’s manifestation. Players must protect that energy while developing a combat build and storming the castle before the time limit expires.
