- Players who prefer fixed dungeon layouts may hit a wall with Dungeon Hack's randomly generated runs.
- Players looking for modern action combat may find the role-playing and party focus too slow or systems-heavy.
- Players seeking stealth-focused or survival-crafting gameplay will find the collection centered on fantasy quests and combat.
Our take on Forgotten Realms: The Archives - Collection Three
The bounce point arrives when Dungeon Hack's randomized dungeon structure replaces authored discovery with repeated runs. Players who select its roguelike option face a sharper wall: death ends the adventure, rather than simply resetting progress.
What is Forgotten Realms: The Archives - Collection Three?
This collection contains Dungeon Hack and Menzoberranzan, two AD&D role-playing games set in the Forgotten Realms.
Dungeon Hack generates dungeons with pits, traps, puzzles, and magical and non-magical items. It also has a roguelike option where death ends the adventure. Menzoberranzan follows a rescue mission into the Underdark after a party is captured by the Drow. Its battles include new tactics, levitation, and flight. Across both games, players explore locations, fight monsters, complete quests, assemble parties of clerics, warriors, thieves, and other adventurers, and pursue campaigns in the Forgotten Realms setting.

Forgotten Realms: The Archives - Collection Three compared to similar games
Unlike Ghost of a Tale, which follows a mouse and emphasizes stealth, disguises, conversations, and exploration, this collection centers on party-based Forgotten Realms quests, dungeon combat, and character roles. Vagante is a dark-fantasy adventure about dangerous lands and seeking fame, riches, and power, while Dungeon Hack uses randomly generated dungeons and Menzoberranzan follows a rescue mission in the Underdark.
