Our take on Forests, Fields and Fortresses
Rather than relying on a conventional campaign structure, the game pairs handcrafted, target-based puzzle levels with an endless-piece mode that advances through seasons. Kingdom building is framed as territory placement and Gold goals.
What is Forests, Fields and Fortresses?
Forests, Fields and Fortresses combines puzzle play with a board-game structure.
Players build a kingdom by arranging pieces of territory and earning Gold. Puzzle Mode offers manually made levels with a small number of pieces; each level requires a target amount of Gold. Adventure Mode starts with a randomly generated field and an unlimited supply of territory pieces. Earn enough Gold before the field fills to finish a season and advance to the next. Adventure Mode also includes unlockable Spells, Game Events and Starting Locality Types, which change later playthroughs. The two modes offer different setups: one uses prepared levels, while the other centers on a growing field and season progression.
