Our take on Folklands
Folklands departs from harsher settlement-management conventions by centering a relaxing pace and citizen well-being. Conflict and disasters are optional, allowing peaceful growth, production, and trade to replace the constant pressure found in some settlement strategy games.
What is Folklands?
Folklands is a settlement-building game set in a fantasy Nordic-inspired world.
Players harvest resources, refine raw materials into processed goods, and create production chains to expand their settlement. Citizens need shelter, food, products, employment, safety, and attention to their well-being. Trade routes connect settlements with three nearby kingdoms in single-player, while multiplayer supports trade with other players. Fire, sickness, and crime create dangers that require careful production and resource distribution. Each procedurally generated world varies in terrain and resource availability. Settlements can focus on peaceful growth, while optional disasters or conflict introduce additional challenges. Planned Steam Workshop support is intended to add content and rule modifications.
