Our take on Flooded
The defining constraint is an island that steadily vanishes under rising water, forcing production planning, defense, and eventual relocation before the available land disappears.
What is Flooded?
Flooded is a city-building strategy game set on islands that gradually disappear beneath rising water.
Players extract resources with specialized buildings, improve their output, discover relics, and research technologies for working on smaller areas. Defensive towers and traps protect miners from raids by survivors on nearby islands. When an island is lost, an ark carries the group toward another landmass, where different biomes introduce distinct conditions. Story mode follows the survivors’ attempt to reach safety and investigate the cause of the flood. Procedurally generated islands, unlockable commanders and relics, Quickplay scenarios, and an Endless mode provide different strategic structures across playthroughs.
How Flooded plays
- 01Shrinking Islands
- Rising water progressively reduces the land available for buildings and resource extraction.
- 02Resource Production
- Buildings can be upgraded, while technologies and relics affect production as space becomes limited.
- 03Island Defense
- Towers and traps protect mining operations from attacks by survivors on neighboring islands.
- 04Procedural Exploration
- New islands are generated for each playthrough and can contain different biomes.
- 05Multiple Modes
- Story mode is joined by customizable Quickplay scenarios and Endless mode, which restores land when a new era begins.
Flooded compared to similar games
Creeper World 4 is a real-time strategy game centered on fighting a fluid enemy across 3D terrain, while Flooded focuses on production and defense as rising water reduces the buildable island. Flooded also combines this shrinking-land structure with ark construction, island relocation, and generated biomes.
