Is Float Night worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Sandbox players who prefer resource collection and building without crafting
- Tower-defense fans who want enemies to arrive in nightly attacks
- Players seeking a small alien-island game with optional robot combat
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players looking for a deep crafting system may hit a wall because buildings are purchased rather than crafted.
- Players who want constant exploration or varied enemy encounters may find the nightly defense loop repetitive.
- Players seeking a large, complex survival simulation may find the small sandbox scope too limited.
Our take on Float Night
The bounce point arrives when building begins: there is no crafting tree to plan, since structures are bought with XMB earned from sold resources. Players expecting a hands-on crafting system may lose interest there, while the nightly core-defense cycle becomes the next repeated checkpoint.
What is Float Night?
Float Night is a small sandbox game set across alien islands.
Players collect resources and sell them to earn XMB, the currency used to purchase buildings without crafting. Houses and plant-breeding structures can be built on the islands. Each night, monsters attack the company core, creating a tower-defense sequence in which the enemies come to the player. A weapon and recruited robots can be used against them. The game also includes weather systems, including rainy nights that can be viewed from a self-built house. Steam achievements, leaderboards, and cloud support are included.

Float Night compared to similar games
Mr. Prepper centers on underground shelter construction and crafting in a nuclear-war survival scenario, while Float Night uses resource sales and XMB purchases without crafting. Float Night also adds nightly tower defense, alien-island building, and robot recruitment; those functions are not described for Mr. Prepper.
