RPGIs Faeland worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who enjoy exploring interconnected fantasy areas and revisiting them after gaining abilities
- Action-RPG fans who want to vary combat through weapon selection
- Players interested in quests, NPC conversations, and story progression in a pixel-art setting
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly linear campaign may find the open world and return visits less suited to that pace
- Players who prefer a fixed combat style may not enjoy choosing among weapons with different speeds and effects
- Players looking for a multiplayer-focused game may find the described solo hunter journey too limited
Our take on Faeland
Weapon choice shapes combat speed and strengths, so a broad arsenal comes with a trade-off: changing the equipped weapon also means changing how combat plays rather than relying on one consistent attack style.
What is Faeland?
Faeland is a 2D action-adventure RPG about a hunter forced to flee after trolls and orcs raid their home.
The journey moves through an open world of towns, forests, caves, dungeons, and castles. Players can speak with friendly characters, learn lore, trade items, buy equipment and consumables, and take quests while advancing the main story. New abilities and special items open paths that were previously inaccessible, encouraging returns to earlier areas. Combat varies with the equipped weapon: knives, daggers, swords, axes, spears, and bows have different animations, speeds, strengths, and effects. Character gear includes clothing, shields, gadgets, weapons, and mythical tools. The presentation uses handmade pixel-art environments and animations with an enhanced 16-bit style.
How Faeland plays
- 01Weapon-based combat
- Knives, daggers, swords, axes, spears, and bows differ in attack speed, animation, strength, and effects.
- 02Ability-gated exploration
- Scrolls and special items provide access to routes and places that could not be reached earlier.
- 03Towns and quests
- Friendly characters offer lore and tips, while quests provide loot and support story progress.
- 04Equipment customization
- Clothing, shields, gadgets, and other gear add strength or protection alongside weapons and mythical tools.
