Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking combat-focused gameplay may bounce off the story-led structure and its emphasis on investigation.
- Players who want a self-contained premise without multiple suspects and unresolved questions may find the conspiracy structure demanding.
- Players looking for a game centered on modern settings or everyday scenarios will not find those themes here.
Our take on Fable of the Sword
The bounce point is the investigation structure: players who expect the martial-arts premise to lead directly into sustained sword combat may lose interest when the story turns toward sect suspicions, suspects and conspiracy questions.
What is Fable of the Sword?
Fable of the Sword is a fully voiced galgame set in an ancient martial-arts world.
Lin travels down the mountain with a junior fellow apprentice for training, and they encounter Jolin Shen, a demon fox causing trouble in Tanglin City. After joining disciples from the Treasure Pavilion to capture Shen, they become involved in suspicions surrounding the Water God Sect. Lin, Seven and Bai later investigate rumors about a legendary sword at Four Phase Mountain, where they uncover a conspiracy. The story questions which sects are involved and whether Yuu, Seven, Bai or Yuun are connected to the plot. Development took six years, and the game includes a theme song. Trading cards and achievements are planned for the final version.
