Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want character levels and grinding will reach a dead end in the progression system.
- Players who prefer to charge into enemy groups and attack without choosing skills will hit a wall in combat.
- Players looking for a stealth- or conversation-focused adventure may find its combat emphasis a poor match.
Our take on Eternal Dread 2
Players expecting character levels will hit a wall when preparing for battle: progression instead centers on weapons, skills, and signets. Another sticking point comes when facing a group of enemies, where charging in and attacking without a plan is described as a poor tactic.
What is Eternal Dread 2?
Eternal Dread 2 is an action RPG set in a world ravaged by demons, where surviving women defend the remnants of humanity.
Players choose from six characters: Warrior, Ranger, Mage, Battle Mage, Engineer, and Guardian. Their combat roles include close fighting and archery, marksmanship and summoned beasts, elemental attacks, melee and magic, constructed devices, and defensive abilities. Character levels and grinding are absent; preparation instead involves choosing weapons, skills, and signets. Enemies are meant to punish attacking into a horde without a plan, so players must use skills to survive and fight dangerous foes. A shared stash lets characters use items collected by others. Defeat scenes differ according to the location and enemy involved.
