Our take on Eternal
The resurrection premise supports repeated attempts and experimentation, but it also makes death part of the intended loop rather than a rare setback. Players seeking a tightly controlled, one-pass horror journey may find that cycle reduces the sense of finality.
What is Eternal?
Explore a sinister mental asylum in a first-person survival horror shooter inspired by the SCP Foundation universe.
The protagonist repeatedly returns after death, creating a cycle in which each failure can inform a new approach. Hostile entities have different abilities and behaviors, requiring observation of their patterns and weaknesses. Ammunition, medical supplies, and firearms are scattered through the asylum and support survival during encounters. Investigation forms the other main thread: search the environment for clues, uncover details about experiments conducted there, and investigate the reason behind the protagonist’s inability to die while seeking a way out.
How Eternal plays
- 01Repeated resurrection
- Death returns the protagonist to the asylum, allowing repeated attempts against its threats.
- 02Distinct entities
- Creatures use different abilities and behaviors that can be studied during encounters.
- 03Scattered supplies
- Ammunition, medical items, and guns must be found throughout the asylum.
- 04Environmental investigation
- Clues reveal the asylum’s experiments and the cause of the protagonist’s recurring resurrection.
Eternal compared to similar games
Eternal combines first-person shooting with survival-horror exploration, scavenged supplies, enemy-pattern study, and an investigation into repeated resurrection. Hentai Vs Furries is a third-person shooter with quests, skins, multiple camera angles, emotes, and a main mode, while Abyssus focuses on multiplayer shooting, hand-crafted levels, roguelite progression, and weapon refitting. Jusant instead centers on action-puzzle climbing, stamina management, and exploration at a self-directed pace.
