We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Arcade shooter fans who want score-focused runs
- Players who enjoy switching between distinct weapon functions during combat
- High-score chasers interested in leaderboards and replay sharing
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking exploration, character progression, or a story-led campaign may find the stage-based shooting structure too narrow.
- Players who dislike repeated score-chasing runs may hit a wall once the five-stage route and three modes are familiar.
- Players looking for cooperative or multiplayer shooting will not find that structure in the described modes.
Our take on ESCHATOS
Players may bounce off the Shield's close-range requirement: using it for heavy damage or bullet deflection means moving perilously near enemies. Score-focused players may also hit a wall in Advanced mode, where risk-and-reward decisions shape each run.
What is ESCHATOS?
ESCHATOS is an arcade shoot-'em-up set in the 21XX era, where an alien force has occupied the Moon and launched a UFO invasion of Earth.
Players pilot a space fighter through five stages, including Earth's orbit and an alien moon base. Three modes shape the runs: Original focuses on clearing enemy waves quickly, Advanced adds risk-and-reward play, and Time Attack imposes a time limit. The fighter carries a Front Shot, Wide Shot, and Shield, each suited to different situations. The Shield can deflect bullets and damage nearby enemies. Screen-filling bosses appear during the campaign. Online leaderboards and downloadable replays support score comparison, while Steam achievements and a retro-synth soundtrack are also included.
