Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a predictable campaign may hit a wall when each new game generates a different world.
- Players who dislike high-stakes combat may bounce off permanent death and squad members fleeing or going berserk.
- Players wanting fast real-time battles may find the step-by-step combat pace too deliberate.
- Players looking for a fixed setting may not enjoy the mixture of haunted swamps, war zones, and mushroom villages.
Our take on Enemy
The bounce point arrives when a battle becomes unstable: stress can send squad members fleeing or berserk, while collapsing structures and spreading fires can reshape the encounter. Players who want stable battlefield conditions may hit that system quickly.
What is Enemy?
Enemy combines characters, items, and environments drawn from classic video games in a procedurally generated open world.
Each new game creates a different setting, including haunted swamps, tropical war zones, and mushroom villages. Players assemble a custom squad with abilities involving mental health, reaction time, blaster use, and extreme jumping. Combat follows a turn-based system inspired by X-Com and Jagged Alliance, with players acting step by step while responding to enemy counter-moves. Battle stress can cause heroes to flee or go berserk. Environments are destructible: damaged building supports can bring structures down, while fires may spread into large infernos. Permanent death makes combat consequences last.
How Enemy plays
