SimulationIs Elsinore worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Adventure players who want repeated attempts with knowledge carrying between loops
- Hamlet fans who want an interactive story in that setting
- Players who prefer relationship-driven choices and investigation over combat-focused gameplay
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a linear story may find the repeated-cycle structure demanding
- Those wanting fast, combat-centered action may find the point-and-click pacing and social focus too slow
- Players looking for a short, self-contained sequence of events may not want to revisit the same four days
Our take on Elsinore
The store presentation foregrounds secrets, choices, and a reactive world, but the central structure is repeated experimentation across the same four-day period. Progress depends on remembering prior loops and testing how social interactions change later events, rather than simply moving through a fixed adventure.
What is Elsinore?
Elsinore is a point-and-click adventure set in Shakespeare’s Hamlet, with Ophelia trapped in a repeating four-day period.
She awakens after foreseeing the deaths of everyone in Elsinore Castle and revisits the same events to seek a different outcome. Characters follow personal schedules, needs, plans, and relationships while events unfold in real time. A simulation determines which occurrences follow from Ophelia’s actions, including deception, forgiveness, gossip, friendship, and hostility. Each reset preserves what Ophelia has learned, opening different ways to approach later loops. Understanding characters’ motives and concealed histories is central to changing events and surviving. Decisions can lead to tragic deaths, and the story responds to interactions throughout the castle.
How Elsinore plays
- 01Four-Day Time Loops
- Each cycle resets after four days while Ophelia retains knowledge from earlier attempts.
- 02Reactive Story Simulation
- A story system selects events according to Ophelia’s interactions and changes the unfolding narrative.
- 03Scheduled Characters
- Castle inhabitants pursue individual routines, needs, intentions, and relationships during each cycle.
- 04Social Investigation
- Ophelia can study motives, histories, and concealed information to influence the castle’s inhabitants.
