Our take on Eidolon
The game departs from adventure conventions by replacing a clearly directed journey with open-ended investigation. Its narrative is assembled from documents scattered through a future landscape, turning the recovery and interpretation of records into the main way the story unfolds.
What is Eidolon?
Eidolon is a narrative exploration game set in Western Washington around 2400, after nature has reclaimed the region.
Players move through a broad landscape with little guidance, finding wildlife, edible plants, and records of people who lived there before. Journals, letters, sketchbooks, newspapers, zines, brochures, transcripts, blogs, and other artefacts reveal connected stories spanning hundreds of years. More than 150 documents provide memories to collect and interpret. The environment includes predators, prey, varied plant and animal life, changing weather, and a day-and-night cycle. The hand-sculpted region takes multiple hours to cross, making exploration and the reconstruction of past lives the central structure.

Eidolon compared to similar games
Jusant is an action-puzzle climbing game built around mastering climbing tools, managing stamina, choosing routes, and reaching the top of a tower. Eidolon instead uses open-world exploration and collected documents to reveal interconnected stories across a future Western Washington. The two differ in structure: one focuses on ascent and traversal challenges, while the other focuses on landscape exploration and historical reconstruction.
