Our take on [ECHOSTASIS]
The limited time in each dreamscape puts pressure on exploration: opening shortcuts and locating weapons compete with investigating the subject’s mind. This design leaves less room to linger in each area while making route choices part of the progression.
What is [ECHOSTASIS]?
[ECHOSTASIS] is a first-person science-fiction horror shooter with puzzle elements and the final story of the ENIGMA trilogy.
As an administrator at ENIGMA’s headquarters, investigate a virus inside an algorithm that creates personalized realities called Echoes. The investigation enters the minds of three subjects lost in the Cloud. Use a terminal to type bracketed words and gather thoughts about what happened. Each dreamscape allows only limited time, so opening shortcuts and finding weapons are part of reaching deeper areas. The game combines combat, exploration, and puzzles across these dreamscapes. It also connects its story to The Enigma Machine and Mothered, and includes an open-ended keyword system through the interactive terminal.
