- Players seeking a character-driven RPG may find colony systems and strategic management take priority
Our take on Earth Space Colonies
Managing several worlds at once trades a single, tightly focused colony for broader strategic demands. The game divides attention between terraforming, defense, exploration, research, trade, crafting, and environmental hazards rather than concentrating on one management loop.
What is Earth Space Colonies?
Build space colonies across several worlds while managing resources, infrastructure, research, crafting, and interplanetary trade.
The game presents three campaigns with separate objectives: terraforming Mars, defending a mining colony on Ceres, and exploring Ganymede’s subsurface ocean. Astronauts can be trained for roles such as building, mining, and science, while astronauts and rovers investigate hostile environments. Sandstorms, solar flares, quakes, meteor showers, combat, and weather effects affect colony operations. Construction options include factories, hotels, military bases, space elevators, and terraformers. Produced goods can be combined with raw materials to craft items, and goods can move between worlds through launchers and space elevators.

Earth Space Colonies compared to similar games
Xenonauts focuses on turn-based squad operations against an alien invasion, while Earth Space Colonies combines colony construction, terraforming, exploration, and trade across multiple worlds. Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation centers on managing vast armies across a world, whereas Earth Space Colonies gives equal attention to infrastructure, astronaut roles, crafting, and planetary campaigns. Old World follows an empire across generations with political and family management, unlike Earth Space Colonies’ space-colony and environmental systems.
