Our take on Dungeon Dev
Rather than treating a dungeon as a defense puzzle built to stop intruders, the game makes successful hero completion the target. Its central reversal is to use monsters, traps, and difficulty tuning to stage a satisfying defeat while accounting for Tank, Damage Dealer, and Healer roles.
What is Dungeon Dev?
Dungeon Dev casts the player as a dungeon developer working under the Demon Lord after a secret agreement with the human king.
The objective is unusual: construct a dungeon that the invading heroes can successfully clear, rather than defeating them. Monsters and traps must be placed with the heroes’ roles in mind, including Tank, Damage Dealer, and Healer. Each group of visitors brings different expectations and obstacles, from royal knights and wild creatures to private soldiers and veteran warriors. The challenge is to keep the dungeon’s difficulty suitable while ensuring every hero is satisfied. The game draws on level-design work, framing dungeon construction as a process of balancing encounters for different kinds of players.
