Is DUAL GEAR worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Mech game fans who want both direct shooting and tactical turn-based command
- Players who enjoy tuning weapons and parts for different mech and pilot setups
- Story-focused strategy players interested in a 2069 conflict involving NEMOS and the Watchmaker
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a purely turn-based experience may find the real-time combat layer demanding
- Players who prefer short, self-contained battles may not want the combination of tactical management, customization, and story progression
- Players looking for a finished multi-act campaign may find the initial Early Access story scope limited to the first act
Our take on DUAL GEAR
Instead of separating action and strategy into different modes, DUAL GEAR places direct mech shooting inside a broader turn-based command structure. Its tactical planning is paired with real-time movement and weapon use, making the genre departure a shift between strategic overview and immediate combat control.
What is DUAL GEAR?
DUAL GEAR combines 3D mech combat with a turn-based tactical layer.
In Combat Mode, players directly control units and use weapons including SMGs, missiles, and melee devices against real-time enemies. Tactical View provides a high-angle map for selecting units and managing engagements before deployment. The NEMOS Hangar supports buying, selling, and upgrading mech parts and weapons, along with color customization. Equipment settings affect mech performance and pilot style. Story mode introduces characters and RPG elements, with experience points, weapon experience, skills, and levels. The first act is planned for the Steam Early Access launch, with additional acts intended for later Early Access updates. The story takes place in 2069, after the Massive Orbital Incident.

DUAL GEAR compared to similar games
DUAL GEAR combines real-time mech shooting, turn-based tactical management, equipment upgrades, and story RPG progression. Quasimorph centers on high-stakes roguelike missions, corporate contracts, extraction, and persistent PMC growth, while Inkbound uses turn-based roguelike combat with classes and quests in a world shaped by written-word magic. DUAL GEAR differs from both through direct mech piloting and its tactical-view command layer.
