Our take on DreadOut 2
Rather than limiting horror to evasion, DreadOut 2 combines smartphone-based ghost investigation with direct melee encounters. Its setting also shifts away from familiar Western folklore by grounding its supernatural threats, side activities, and discoveries in Indonesian urban legends.
What is DreadOut 2?
DreadOut 2 is a third-person horror adventure following Linda Meillinda, a high school student who can detect and see ghosts.
She investigates threats to her hometown and the wider world using a smartphone camera, melee weapons, and projectiles. The game combines ghost hunting with combat against physical spirits and hostile boss entities. Linda explores her town and surrounding areas during the day and night, speaks with human and ghostly residents, completes side quests, and investigates local urban legends. Hidden stages, mini-bosses, environmental clues, and locations connected to Indonesian folklore expand the exploration. A smartphone Ghostpedia records discovered spirits and myths, while the story continues through interactions and discoveries across the supernatural setting.
