Our take on Down and Out
Rather than keeping fighting inside isolated arenas, the game places street combat within a city that can be explored between encounters. Quests, errands, travel, graffiti, basketball, and companion animals sit alongside the central brawling structure, making the genre departure its combination of open-world activities and first-person VR.
What is Down and Out?
Down and Out is a first-person VR fighting game set in Grande City.
Players control a street fighter who battles rivals for money and reputation while pursuing quests and exploring the city. Combat uses player movements to direct punches, and enemies adapt to fighting styles. Beyond fights, the city includes bicycle travel, stray dogs that can become companions, basketball, custom graffiti, food stalls, hidden areas, and side activities.
Money found or earned in combat can buy clothing, food, and healing items. The game combines a storyline with open exploration, optional activities, and encounters with NPCs and hostile enemies. Its presentation mixes realistic and comic-book-inspired visuals, and it is available for PSVR2, PSVR1, Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 1, and Oculus Rift S.
